I am so excited, they finally built and opened The Old Spaghetti Factory this last week. Palm Springs is known for wonderful restaurants, mostly local, we have only a few chain restaurants here. But this restaurant used to be one that my husband and I went too when we were dating over 25 years ago. It is actually in Rancho Mirage on Highway 111, across from the River.
We intended to go on opening night, but when we called they said they had over 100 calls and they were taking no reservations.
When we got there we were told it was a 35 minute wait. We only needed to wait about 10 minutes. We went in and sat down in the trolly car. They took our order very quickly and before we knew it we had some garlic fries on the table.
These were delicious. Then our meal came, and the staff and service were really exceptional. One of our friends was on staff there. He came up and told us a little about the restaurant. We ordered the lasagna and shrimp garlic fettuccine. Then for dessert, spumoni came with the meal, but my daughter wanted the big dessert. Chocolate mousse cake.
This was enough for 4 people, it was so good.The manager came over and talked to us when we were finished and said they will soon be open for lunch.
We all agreed, we would be coming back soon.

I am a baker, I think about it all the time, coming up with new desserts, that is, while spending time with my 3 children. Two of them help me in the kitchen. The oldest doesn't think it's the cool thing to do. I also teach cooking classes including gluten free baking. I like to read and work out in the garden. I finished culinary school a few years ago and volunteer at our church and school. I am busy, busy, busy, but love every minute of it.
