Using essential oils is a popular way of replacing potentially harmful chemical cleaning products with powerful, all-natural solutions.

Using a natural product cuts down on the harmful fumes typically left behind after using commercial brands. This goes a long way in helping you maintain optimal air quality in your home. Keep in mind, this trio of essential oils is a must when you want to establish a “greener” cleaning routine.

How I clean using essential oils and glass spray bottles and save money.

Using Essential Oils to Clean With

    Lemon Oil

Boiling lemons, as a means to freshen the air, it is nothing new. In fact, it’s been going on for ages. But, why not use lemon oil instead. It’s SO much easier. Simply add a few drops of this citrusy oil to water and spray it around the room for a similar effect.

Really, that’s just the beginning of this potent fruit’s cleaning potential. Lemon oil is an effective disinfectant and antiseptic, which makes it a great addition to a homemade green cleaner. It can also be used as part of a wood polish to bring a natural shine to your furniture. Spray it in your car to create a fresh clean scent.

    Peppermint Oil

Like lemon, peppermint has been used for some time for its refreshing aroma. But, while we may find the scent to be pleasant, pests such ants and spiders can’t stand it. Spray a mixture of water and peppermint oil wherever ants are a problem. This essential oil also has antibacterial properties, making it the perfect addition to your homemade surface cleaner.

Do you have a problem with aphids? Peppermint oil to the rescue! Spray your infected plants with a few drops of the oil mixed with lukewarm water. No more pesky bugs.

    Lavender Oil

Lavender oil is another incredibly versatile natural cleaner. Like the other oils we’ve talked about, it has a soothing fragrance, great for aromatherapy purposes.

It may surprise you to learn that lavender works as a natural moth repellent. If you want to keep moths out of your clothing, but can’t tolerate the smell of mothballs, place a few cotton balls soaked in lavender oil in your closets and dresser. In addition, a few drops of lavender oil in your washing machine helps to deodorize and disinfect your laundry just like commercial dish soap.

    More Tips Using Essential Oils

Honestly, this is just the beginning when it comes to cleaning with these oils. Once you start using them, you’ll probably wonder how you ever got along without them. Why not add them to your cleaning arsenal today?

Using essential oils to clean is easy and will save you money. To use oils to clean, you will need a glass bottle. Place a few drops of oil in a glass bottle of water and shake gently.

To defuse oils in your room, you can add a few drops to your defuser. There are so many oils to choose from. You can add lavender to create a calming effect, you can add lemon to create an energizing effect and keep your room smelling clean and fresh.
