This coconut lime sugar scrub will soften your skin while you enjoy the fragrance of lime citrus and coconut.
After a long day, I love to relax with a cuppa hot tea and a nice bath. We just moved to a new house that has the biggest bathtub. It is one of my favorite things in the house.
But as soon as the weather turns a little colder I notice my skin seems to get dryer. It is my excuse to tell hubby I need a long hot bath. Then I get out my coconut lime sugar scrub. You can go to the store and purchase a jar of scrub, but you will be paying a lot more for it and there will be ingredients that you might not want to put on your body.
By making your own recipe, you choose what goes into it, and also they make great gifts for the holidays. These can be made any time of year and you can change up the fragrance accordingly with essential oils.

I chose to make a coconut lime sugar scrub this time because I love the two fragrances and they remind me of my key lime cupcakes I make. It’s super easy, you just get some coconut oil, or almond oil if you prefer and mix in some sugar (I chose turbinado sugar because it has a larger granular over white granulated.) Then I mixed in some lime essential oil and lime zest and that’s it. I also included some coconut flakes stirred in.
This will keep in the refrigerator for several months, but don’t leave it on the bathroom shelf since it has no preservatives and the oil will go rancid after a while.
You can get any mason jar that is cute from Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, Joann’s or even some ball jars from the grocery store like I used here. These would be great hostess gifts in the smaller 4 oz mason jars to give for the holidays, bridal gifts, teacher gifts or for the next Tea Party you have.
Recipe for Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub

- 1 cup of Turbinado Sugar (sugar in the raw)

- Melt the coconut oil in a bowl in the microwave.
- Add 1 cup of sugar to it and stir.
- Add the flaked coconut and lime zest.
- Add the Essential oil and Stir.
- Spoon into a cute jar, Put a ribbon around it and keep it refrigerated.

I can smell the aroma just by imagining it! I'm a huge bath fan and usually use epsom salt. How do you use a sugar scrub? Do you actually scrub it on? Or can I just add it to my bath as a soak?

There are SO many unique DIY projects I'm learning about these days. I never thought about doing this one. The last natural product I made from home was for a sugar-based wax, for my eyebrows. It lasted a long time too. I just covered it with aluminum foil and put it in the refrigerator, then reheated it a little to be able to use it. I really liked that one. I have bought those scrubs from specialty stores and they are pricey. I might just have to give this one a try.
