How Our Family Takes a Break From Holiday Busyness

In our family we are all about being on a schedule, and with all that goes on during the holidays, sometimes we need to take a break from the Holiday Busyness.

Family game night is a fun time at our house. We don’t do it as often as I would like, but it is a time we can all be together and the cares of our days are not invited. I think it’s important for us to have fun and get to spend time with each other since everyone is always on a different time schedule.

Take a Break From Holiday Busyness

The holidays can be a busy time and overwhelming with all that needs to get done. We enjoy remembering that the holidays are a blessing and for spending times with the ones we love. We don’t let all the busyness take away from that.

We have a variety of games we play, sometimes it’s Scattergories, other times it’s cards. Usually we play on the weekends, unless it’s a vacation day.  That way we don’t have homework or jobs to get in the way.

    Stackable Snacks with #staterholidaysnacks

Because we are relaxing, it’s the one time I don’t feel guilty if I don’t cook. But we are usually hungry and like to snack. We have fun by creating a meal out of a few things I picked up at Stater Bros, our local grocery store.

This time we chose to get some ingredients like Wheat Thin Crackers and stuff to stack on top.  I like to make sure we have a little protein in it so I make sure to buy that too.

Stacking our Snacks with Coca Cola and Wheat Thins

What we Stack on Our Snacks

Wheat Thins Pita Chips or Poppers as the base

    Cream Cheese or Hummus

    Summer Sausage or Salami

    Your Choice of Sliced Cheese

    Sliced Olives (black or green)

Bottled Coca-Cola or Smart Water for me.

    Playing Scattergories

So while we are having fun playing and trying to outwit each other we are also having fun stacking our snacks with our favorite tastes. We buy these bottles of Coca-Cola because they are fun and just the right size. Usually we buy cans but it feels extra special when we use these old fashioned bottles. At least it feels that way to my hubby and I since that’s what we grew up on.  It feels great to take time out of all the holiday hustle and bustle and we had quality time that we treasure.
