Spring Cleaning Tips and Tricks to get your home in tip-top shape by cleaning from room to room. When spring comes around, it feels like everything is new again. The flowers are starting to bloom again and the days are longer and it is a great time to get your home in tip-top shape.

    Spring cleaning tips and tricks

I start with a list. I am one of those list makers, they keep me focused and on track.  It also helps so the whole family can take part in getting everything done and everyone does their share. I usually break down the large list and divide up the jobs between my kids and my husband.

Once I get the list started, I get out the supplies we need to get the jobs done. This will save time by having everything ready and on the counter or in a bucket for the kids to take into their rooms. We plan several days or two weekends to get everything accomplished.

    Areas to focus on cleaning

    • Kitchen
    • Bathrooms
    • Living Room and Dining Rooms
    • Laundry Room
    • Closets

    Setting Up the Areas

For the Kitchen, I start with Counter Cleaner, Lysol Cleaner, Paper Towels, Soft Cloths, Floor Cleaner, The Broom, Finish Dishwasher Detergent and Rinse Aid.

This is usually the area I work on. Once the counters are clean, I work on cleaning out the refrigerator and wiping down the doors, throwing out all the foods past the expiration date and making the refrigerator doors shiny again.

I also take this time to get my pretty dishes down for our Easter meal. This is the perfect time to add the Finish Jet-Dry rinse aid. It gets the dishes spotless and the drying aid helps them dry quicker.

    • Time Saver Tip: Use a rinse aid in your dishwasher and you won’t need to dry your plastics when you put them away!

Once the dishes are finished, I get a beautiful table decor set up and I am ready for spring and Easter.

I finish the floors and this room is done.

Time Saver Tip: Take your oven racks out and place in the bath tub with water, dish soap, and dryer sheets to loosen the dirt. Leave them for 1 hour, while you are cleaning another room.

For the Bathrooms, I can use the same products as the kitchen but add Lysol Disinfecting Wipes to the product list. Bathrooms tend to be a catch-all for bacteria and we need to keep it sparkling clean and Lysol Disinfecting Wipes makes it easy for the kids to clean.

For the Living Room and Dining Room, I use Lysol Furniture Polish and Mirror Cleaner with Paper Towels and then Vacuum.

Tip: Use Lysol Disinfecting Spray on your furniture to get rid of bacteria. This will also work on your mattress.

For the Laundry room, I stock up on Woolite High-Efficiency Extra Dark Duel Formula laundry detergent and Lysol to wipe everything down. We work on cleaning the washer and dryer out and making sure it’s working properly. We usually also use vinegar through a few wash cycles.

For the Closets, here we usually just use some large trash bags and have the kids sort out what doesn’t fit anymore and if it goes to charity or thrown out if it’s damaged.

Now that we are done with the rooms, we usually use our carpet cleaner and clean all the carpets. We do this twice a year.

Lastly, we use Air Wick Scented Oils. This is how we keep our home smelling fresh. Use these ideas once or twice a year to get your whole home beautified.

Now sit back and enjoy your freshly cleaned home.
