These beautiful Gourmet Candied Orange Slices are so pretty and can be consumed just as they are, dipped in chocolate or top off mini cheesecakes.
Gourmet Candied Orange Slices
These little beauties are so much easier to make than you think. They are a little time consuming, only to account for drying time.

Plan on making them in the morning and you can eat them that evening or the following day. They would be the perfect addition to your next holiday party.
Start out with either oranges or tangerines and slice 1/8″ thick. You can make several dozen of these and place 6 in clear gift bags with ribbons and give as holiday gifts or table favors.
Gourmet Candied Orange Slices
Ingredients
- 4 – 5 Oranges Sliced 1/8″ thick
- 1 cup Water
- 1/2 cup Monk Sweet Natural Sweetener OR 1 Cup if using granulated sugar)
- 1 cup Dark Chocolate Morsels
Instructions
- Slice oranges into 1/8" thick slices.
- Add slices to a large saucepan of water and boil for 1 – 2 minutes and then place oranges in an ice bath or bowl of ice water.
- Drain on a wire rack.
- In a large saucepan bring 2 cups of water and 1 cup of Monk Sweet Natural Sweetener (or 2 cups granulated sugar) to a low boil.
- Heat until sweetener dissolves. Stir on occasion.
- Add sliced oranges in a single layer, into sugar mixture and heat on low for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Oranges should start to look translucent.
- When done dip in sugar on both sides and let dry on cooling rack for several hours or overnight. You can speed up the process by placing in a 200 degree oven for 2 hours.
- When dry, heat up dark chocolate chips with 1 TB vegetable oil in small bowl and place in microwave for 30-second intervals stirring in between. When melted dip orange slices 1/2 way and let cool on parchment paper.
