What Is Special About These Brownies

It’s the perfect balance of rich, fudgy chocolate and the irresistible crunch of Oreo cookies in every bite. The cookies soften slightly as they bake, blending into the gooey brownie base while still adding that signature cookies-and-cream flavor.

Whether you’re a chocolate lover or a fan of cookies and cream, these brownies deliver the best of both worlds in every decadent square!

These treats will be a great addition to your next afternoon tea party or get-together.

For a full list of ingredients and directions, see the recipe card below.

    Cookies and Cream Brownie Ingredients

Ingredients for Cookies and Cream Brownies.
    •  1 box Betty Crocker Super Moist Chocolate Cake Mix – Acts as the rich, chocolatey base, making these brownies extra soft and fudgy. Choose a box with pudding in the mix.
    • Large eggs – Provide structure and moisture, ensuring a chewy, dense texture.
    • Sandwich cookies (Oreos) – Bring the classic cookies and cream crunch and flavor, making each bite irresistible.
    • White chocolate chips – Melt into the brownies for a creamy sweetness and are perfect for drizzling on top.
    • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – Balance the sweetness with a deep, rich chocolate flavor and extra gooey texture.

     Variations

    • Mint Cookies and Cream Brownies – Use mint-flavored Oreos and add ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract for a refreshing twist.
    • Peanut Butter Cookies and Cream Brownies – Swirl in ¼ cup of peanut butter and replace white chocolate chips with peanut butter chips for a nutty flavor.
    • Extra Crunchy Version – Add ½ cup of crushed pretzels or chopped nuts for added texture.
    • Triple Chocolate Brownies – Use a mix of white, milk, and dark chocolate chips for an extra indulgent chocolate overload.
    • Gluten-Free Option – Swap the cake mix for a gluten-free chocolate cake mix and use gluten-free sandwich cookies.

Cookies and Cream Brownie Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: In a Large Bowl, beat cake mix, oil, and eggs. Do not use box directions.

Step 2: Add White Chocolate Chips and Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips.

Step 3: Spread into the Pan sprayed with Cooking Spray. Bake a 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

Step 4: Mix Powdered Sugar, Melted Butter, Vanilla Extract, and Milk while the cake is cooling.

Step 5: Spread frosting on top of cooled brownies.

Step 6: Chop Oreos or place in a baggie and crush with a rolling pin. Leaving different sizes of Oreo chunks.

Step 7: Sprinkle Oreos on top of the Brownies.

    Notes

    • This recipe was tested with a 9 X 9″ square pan. It’s my favorite for brownies. If using an 8 X 8 pan, add 5 minutes for baking time. It will seem underbaked at first, but will continue baking in the pan while cooling.
    • This recipe tastes great after the chilling time.

    Ingredients

    • 1 Box Betty Crocker Super Moist Chocolate Cake Mix 13.25 Ounce
    • 3/4 Cup vegetable oil
    • 2 Large eggs
    • 1/2 Cup White Chocolate Chips
    • 1/2 Cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips.
    • 2 Cups powdered sugar
    • 1/2 Stick butter Melted
    • 1 Tablespoon milk
    • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    • 8 Oreo Cookies Oreos Preferred

    Instructions

    • Heat Oven to 350 degrees.
    • Spray 8 X 8 or 9 X 9 Sqaure Pan with Cooking Spray. I use 9 X 9" For testing.
    • In Large Bowl, beat cake mix, oil and eggs. Do not use box directions.
    • Fold the Chocolate and White Chocolate Chips into the Batter. Spread in the greeced pan.
    • Bake 25 minutes and set aside to cool completely. Do not overbake. Based on a 9 X 9 pan
    • In Medium Bowl, mix powdered sugar, softened butter, milk, and vanilla and spread over cooled brownies.
    • Add Cookies into a Baggie and either hit with bottom of glass or a rolling pin to create medium size bites. Press into the frosting and leave some on top.
    • Refrigerate before cutting.

    Notes

    These brownies taste best chilled.
Be sure to use a cake mix labeled “moist,” as it usually contains pudding and makes super fudgy brownies.
This recipe is based on and tested using a 9 X 9 square pan. If using an 8 X 8 pan, add 5 minutes to baking time. The sides tend to rise more than the middle, and the frosting will cover that.
